SERVICES TAKES MEN’S TOWN
“A” SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Currivan Construction Services rallied for five runs in the top of the seventh inning to grab a 17-12 victory over The Wave in the deciding game of the Men’s Town “A” Softball Championship at Teufel Field. The dramatic finale was needed after The Wave defeated Currivan 15-11 to force a deciding game in the double elimination tournament. Spectators were treated to a pair of exciting games as both clubs gave their best effort throughout the evening.

The opening contest saw several lead changes. The wave opened an early 3-1 lead, but the Construction Crew regained it at 5-3, thanks to a four run third. The Wave responded with a seven run fourth, but Currivan answered with four scores in their next turn at bat. The Wave tacked on four more in the sixth and limited the Construction to a pair of runs in their final turn at bat, securing the 15-11 final.

Christopher Triano, Rich Drago, and Dave Mangum were the hitting stars for The Wave, each with a perfect night as Triano and Drago were four-for-four and Mangum went three-for-three. They had plenty of help as well. Chris Conetta’s three hits in four at bats drove in three runs and A.J. Triano contributed a pair of hits and five RBI’s. Everyone had at least one base hit for The Wave as Jack Guiliani, Jeremy Burton, Manager Spencer Sodokoff Miguel Reyes, Kevin Ramsey, and John Louis all contributed to the attack.

Frankie Currivan and Bobby Caldwell shared the spotlight for the Currivan team each going three- for-four and each added a home run. Ryan Mooney belted a three run blast for the Construction Crew and while Mike Fesko, Eric Dralle, and Steve Conetta all added a pair of hits.

Dave Mangum was the winning pitcher for The Wave. The second game generated even more electricity. The teams traded big innings and used the home run ball throughout the contest. The Wave led 6-5 after three innings, but Currivan scored four in the fourth. The Wave responded with six tallies in the firth. The clubs swapped runs in the sixth,leaving The Wave with a one run advantage going to the top of the seventh. However, the
Construction Services scored five times and The Wave was not able to score in their turn at bat.

Mike Fesko was a perfect five-for-five at the plate, with three runs scored and two runs batted in for the Construction Crew. Ryan Mooney made his two round trippers count as drove in seven runs for the champions. Eric Dralle and Michael Hastings each provided three hits in four turns at bat, with Dralle homering and adding three RBI’s. Bobby Caldwell had another big game going three-for-five. The entire Currivan squad had at least one base hit as Frank Currivan, Steve Conetta Paul Espinosa, Rashe Campbell, and Frank Weidmann all contributed. One of Conetta’s hits was a home run.

The Wave was sparked by Dave Mangum’s three-for-three, which included two runs scored and a run driven in. Jack Guiliani cracked a pair of homers and drove in five runs in the process. Miguel Reyes, Christopher Triano, Chris Conetta were each credited with two hits. Chris Triano and Jeremy
 urton both homered for The Wave.


Rashe Campbell picked up the win for Currivan Construction Services.
